Explain the crew member requirement?
On charters, the United States Coast Guard recommends an additional qualified crew member other than the Master Captain on vessels longer than 40 feet and two additional qualified crew members on vessels longer than 65 feet. If vessel owner is going to be present during the outing and accepts all responsibilities of additional crew members they can be waived. Check opt out during reservation process.
Explain the Captains extra hour requirement?
First, if you are renting a vessel this charge does not apply. When reserving a Captain, you will choose a time duration of your outing. This is the time you will want to be out on the water. Before the departure and after the docking this hour represents duties that need to be performed to ensure a safe and successful trip. Before departure, the vessel needs to be checked to make sure everything is in proper working order. Upon docking, the vessel will need to be properly shut down and left in as found condition. These duties will require 30 minutes before departure and 30 minutes after docking to accomplish. If the vessel owner is going to be present during the outing and accepts all before and after responsibilities these charges can be waived.
